#4 - Fat Loss with Phil Host
On Episode 4 of the Musashi R&D Sessions Podcast, Ross and Dhiren are joined by men’s lifestyle, exercise and nutrition personality Phillip Host, to discuss this week’s Training and Nutrition topic – Weight Loss. This topic involves the guys talking about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, different types of diets and fasting, and the role of supplements in weight loss. Phil also contributes his insights on how to use your time in isolation, innovative ways to exercise indoors, and improving your fitness from a place of poor health. Additionally, we analyse the four elements of weight loss, diet exercise, psychology and socialising, and the difference between caloric restriction, dietary restriction, and time restriction in dieting. Still plenty of sports related news, the guys address Dana White’s intentions to relocate UFC fights on a private island throughout COVID-19 quarantine, an EPL star facing discipline for hosting a secret sex party during lockdown, and the NRL announcing a restarted season. Other news includes athletes banned from the 2020 Olympic Games being allowed to compete now that the games have been postponed to 2021, Boomers vs USA basketball attendees being eligible for refunds, and how Dutch former athlete of the year turned to a career in pornography. We finish this episode with one of the most common listener questions regarding exercise and weight loss, and the guys are able to guess the origin of a famous athlete’s quote, following a hint from Hal the Intern. Once again, Dhiren applies the philosophy of Miyamoto Musashi to the topic using the quote: If you do not control the enemy, the enemy will control you.
